Five Android apps for NYE

Google
New Year's Eve parties (and the festive season in general) can be a raucous time, but there are a few apps that will help make your life easier.
We pick some apps you should keep stored on your device for New Year's Eve (and other parties).
 Android Device Manager
Our first app isn't technically an app actually, but an official utility for finding your Android device.
Found under the Google Settings icon, the Android Device Manager is enabled by ticking the box marked "remotely locate this device". Want the ability to remotely lock and factory reset your device? Then tick that box as well.
Android Device Manager is available on most devices running Android 4.0 and upwards.

Find My Car
If you're inebriated and need to find your car (why do you need to find your car if you're drunk anyway?) or you're just forgetful, Find My Car might come in handy.
Find My Car uses a simple interface, with one button used for storing your car's parked location and another to find the car's location.
The app has gotten some good reviews, although some people complained that it needs good data coverage.

Alcodroid
Want to know exactly how drunk you are? Well, this app includes a nifty blood-alcohol calculator.
The app has a variety of other features too, such as logging your drinks cost and charting your boozing habits.
Alcodroid is free to download, so give it a try.

Uber
Okay, so you realise you're now super wasted (or you just need a lift anyway) – why not try the Uber taxi service?
The service is simple to use, letting you request a cab and pay for the service if your credit card info is stored on the app.
Uber is available in Johannesburg and Cape Town for now.

Drunk Lock
Don't want to drunk-dial that bastard of an ex-boyfriend? Well, think about using the Drunk Lock app then.
Drunk Lock challenges you with some maths problems to enable calling, with varying levels too. Best of all, it also supports third-party platforms like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
Drunk Lock is a free download, with a pro version as well, so give it a go if you want more features.
